Rie was born and raised in Yokohama, Japan; Second largest city in Japan with a beautiful open port, which was developed for overseas trading during the Meiji Restoration of 1868.
Many Western influences first reached Japan through Yokohama and the city has been known for being an international city.
Quite naturally, Rie became interested in overseas cultures and decided to go abroad when she was still in high school.
She attended a local high school in Canada for her senior year and lived there until the end of her University studies.
Sha made many friends during her time in Canada and that’s when she learnt that Japanese food such as Sushi was very popular among local Canadians and other local immigrants.
However, Rie was not a fan of raw fish and could not eat Sushi when she was a kid.
Her mother used to heat up Sashimi grade fish and made them into other delicious meals.
Rie loved her mom’s cooking and eventually started to like Sashimi and Sushi!
Those experiences made her decide that she will help “raw fish haters” to like Sushi and introduce other unique Japanese cuisine to the rest of the world.
After graduating from the university in Canada, Rie returned to her home town in Yokohama.
Using her native Japanese and fluent English, Rie has worked as receptionist and promotional model at various international trade shows. She attended many of foods related expo shows and introduced Japanese foods to the people outside of Japan.
She has also been working as executive assistant at various foreign affiliated companies and helping the foreign expats to settle in Japan and enjoy their Japan life especially while introducing delicious Japanese local foods to them.
Rie believes the Japanese food is one of the healthiest and most-balanced diet. She wants as many people as possible on earth to know about the Japanese food and become fans.
